After much discussion over at The Friendly Atheist, it's now Book Turnover Day thanks to Tom Foss. Dan Harlow and Saint Gasoline now think this is a better idea than reshelving.

Awesome! I've followed much of the discussion and taken part in much of it as well although, as a Satanist, I have no real hand in this as far as Atheism goes. It's going to be interesting to see where this goes, if anywhere.

The extremely long overdue review of Hordagaard's My Glory For Satan CD is finally done! It only took five months and a really shitty job getting in my way but it's finally DONE.

You can read it in all my Satan-loving wordiness here.

READ IT, COMMENT IT, SHARE IT.

And to another extent http://saintgasoline.com/2007/03/18/book-stores-need-a-pseudo-science-section/

So Atheists want to militantly reshelve books on July 28th to their liking. They think this is a great idea, why? I understand that they want their books shelved properly just like the rest of the books in Borders/B&N/etc but they want to do it themselves and screw up the shelvers and other customers.

I know Dawkins' The God Delusion is shelved in science and justifiably deserves to be there but when other books on atheism or by Atheists are shelved in Philosophy/New Age/Fiction and what have you, there's no reason anyone should go and move them around for their own satisfaction. I know books on Intelligent Design (or ID) do not belong in the science section(s) but hey, that's marketing trends. Intelligent Design books and anything else from the Discovery Institute belong in the science fiction section in my opinion but I don't make the shelving arrangements and frankly, neither do you guys.

I don't go around B&N demanding they place all of the books on Satanism into the Christianity section, where they should truly be given it deals with Christianity. Instead, I'm stuck in the paltry New Age hippie section and fiction. I don't move Devil's Dominion from Philosophy to Christian History because that's where I think it should be, I leave it where it is so anyone who wants to find it can find it after a book look up.

I don't go around militantly trying to create a metaphysical section just so I can find all the books I want regardless of how other people have them shelved. Neither should the Atheists.

So why do these Atheists want their books manually reshelved? Mainly because they're pissed, not because they have nothing better to do. Instead of going around and doing guerilla shelving, write B&N, write Borders, write Books-a-Million and state your case for correct shelving and the possibility of an Alternative Religion section.

Frankly, I think these online quiz things are retarded but I found this one on http://scientianatura.blogspot.com/index.html and found it interesting.

I finished a review of a small PA-based band Subpoena at BNNBN.COM. Go read, people!

This week has been excellent so far. I'll elaborate now.

Yay new job!
Yay learning stuff!
Yay listening to metal at work LOUDLY!
Yay hanging out with Jenine!
Boo scary foot doctor!

So I'm sitting outside right now and it's damn humid. I could be inside with the nice AC and everything but where's the fun in that? Tomorrow is my last day at the Universit I work at and I'm gonna be sad to leave. I've been there almost 3 years and it's been a real trip, especially lately. But it's going to be ohso nice starting something new where I can LEARN and get PROMOTIONS. Good times shall be had. I'm finally getting a Linux-based job and I can't wait. One thing I don't like is the fact that I gotta get up so damn early for work :(.

BTW, the band Evoken rules.

And I still need t-shirt help, you SOBs.

Tonight I decided to catalogue all my new CDs. I had far more than I thought. In the last three months alone, I've purchased almost 60 CDs. This isn't including non-metal CDs I've bought nor the 5 or so I've gotten from lala.com in the last month. If I factor in those CDs and all the vinyl I've bought, that comes out to well over 100 albums since January. I can't believe the bulk of that has been bought since March and at least 15 in the last three weeks alone.

I've got a serious addiction :(.

Opeth AND Arch Enemy are playing Gigantour 2006!#%$*@#*

Three dates in FL!#$(!# OMFG!#$!#%$!#%

If any of you chumps know of a company that will custom silkscreen t-shirts for relatively cheap (hopefully under $13 a shirt with screening), please let me know. I'm looking to do a run of maybe 15-30 shirts depending on price.

Well, we're back from Sounds of the Underground Tour 2006. It was just like it was last year: bad sound, very hot, GWAR pissing on people, and us sweating like crazy. We saw GWAR and hemoth again, finally caught TERROR live, unwillingly saw The Black Dahlia Murder, missed some other excellent bands, and saw Cannibal Corpse live. Overall, it was OK and it maintains the reason I steer away from big shows: they're usually boring, always have bad sound, and cost an arm and a leg to attend. I saw Katie, Stephen and his wife (???) again but missed rightcoast :(

The other stuff we did in Orlando was mega fun. We also got to see some kids tossing baby dolls and shoes at a bus.

We went to a tattoo shop today and this one guy does AMAZING line work. I mean...amazing stuff. I think he'll be inking me once I get my design down. I have a feeling he'll be doing Jess's next ink too. It's gonna be rad.

Tonight I downloaded a lot of nerdcore because it's awesome. And funny. It makes me remember how much of a nerd I am when I listen....and thusly identify with or know about everything in the songs.

For those who care, MC Frontalot will be at HOPE in NYC next week (July 21-23). I should try and get someone to get an autograph for me because Front is hot.

I nearly forgot about my LJ!  I've been so extremely busy lately working to get reviews written and trying to get some promo materials from bands so I can spread the posters and junk around here.  So far, it's working out OK as I've already gotten one label to work with and a few bands behind me and it makes me realize how much my day-to-day sucks.  I've also got some other business plans I'm working on in relations to music but details will come later.

Anyone know of a good way to get some press passes for upcoming concerts?  I need to conduct some more interviews and get some press photos done.

Oh yeah, love you Jenine!

Mykonos ROCKS.

And let me tell you, it was fucking AWESOME.  Bands in attendance (in order of stage appearance): The Absence (west coast thrash), Graveworm (Italian symphonic blackened death metal), SPEED\KILL/HATE (east coast thrash), Destruction (80s style German thrash), Kataklysm (Canadian death metal), and finally Vader (Polish death metal).  We missed most of The Absence's set because we were eating but what I heard was decent enough.  Graveworm was fucking incredible as I've been waiting three years to see them here in the States.  Aside from Destruction, Graveworm got the best crowd reaction the entire night and they were insanely surprised at this!  They had no idea they'd get such support especially being the second band on the bill for the night.  Their set was the first one in who knows how long where I assumed the "thrash metal stance" and headbanged my heart out (or would that be my head off?).  Today, I really paid for it but who cares, you only live once!  I've got a bunch of pics and some videos of their set I'll be posting up tomorrow.  There's a number of pictures of myself and the band members throughout the night and one of Miss Marilyn from SMV distro in Pennsylvania.  I missed SPEED\KILL/HATE since I've heard them before and it's not my thing.  Next up was thrash metal vets Destruction.  Twenty-four years in the scene and they're still fucking ripping it to shreds.  Speculation exists that they are the first German thrash metal band and I'd honestly believe it since they started back in '84 before thrash had a name.  They put on an excellent set chocked full of noodlin' and wicked vocals.  Kataklysm followed and I thought it was a bit lack luster of a performance but I'm not very well versed in their back catalogue so I didn't expect much out of it.  The lights during their set gave me an extreme headache which only made my headbang neck pain even worse.
I stayed for Vader unlike 40% or so of the crowd.  I mean, they're the headliners so why leave?!  We only stayed for 45 mins of their set but it was definitely worth it.  They played some classics and I didn't notice new material from their latest mCD.  It was a great set and it got me ready to headbang again but my neck couldn't take it (I was going full tilt during Graveworm's set, during which I was getting pummeled by moshers).  I got my fill of Vader and we left very tired and very satisfied.

The concert overall was awesome and now I'm ready for the Demon Hunter/Becoming the Archetype show later this month.

Welcome to the National Day of Slayer
